Our main project being supported for the next two years is the NHAKA AFRIKA WORLDVIEW TRUST in Zimbabwe
IMPORTANT STATEMENT Many of the general public do not realise how money is raised and distributed to various projects and good causes. As far as Orphan and Community Aid is concerned the charity has two parts, as prescribed by law, if you want to trade. There is the charity itself which accepts cash donations and has a orphan sponsorship programme. The money is held in accounts for the projects being supported and transfered to those projects from time to time as designated by the Trustees and the project leaders. 100% of cash donations are available for the projects. There are NO overheads taken out. The second part of the charity is it's trading company, OCA Trading Ltd. This like any other company is a business and the profit generated is gift aided to the charity. Our first year of trading began in 2007 when we managed to buy, on credit some clothes containers, which were placed on various sites, supermarket and private. The clothes donated via these containers were sold to Eastern Europe where they need affordable clothing. Like any business there are overheads and costs in setting the business up. Profits from the first year were ploughed back into the company so that we could purchase more containers etc. We estimate that £30,000 was reinvested. Not bad from a nil investment start. We are currently in our second year of trading and plan to transfert the sum of £12,000 profit to the charity as a minimum and continuing to purchase further containers. The rational behind this is that by the end of our third year we will be able to gift aid to the charity £60/70,000 per year. The charity can then put this money to building new schools, boreholes and toilets and really make a dramatic change for those orphans and vulnerable children in the projects. If you recieve a leaflet through your door asking for clothes and shoes in the charity name "Orphan and Community Aid" please inform the police as we do not collect door to door nor have we authorised any one to collect on our behalf. If anyone has any questions about any the issues raised or wish to help our cause, please contact us.
